Title: "Pour une analyse des discours sur la musique: Jankélévitch et les metaphores du balancement"
This text was presented at the Second International Symposium on the Sciences of Musical Language in 2004. It analyzes an excerpt from a book by Vladimir Jankélévitch (Le nocturne, 1942) in the light of recently developed theoretical models (notably the cognitive theory of embodied "image schemas" and the psychophysiological aesthetics of the "Globality of Languages"), in order to understand some aspects of the relationship between the musical listening experience and its verbal explanations in the form of metaphorical language.
